Make It Work!
March 12, 2010
Ever see a shoe you love but aren’t sure how to wear it? Yea, we’ve been there too, so we’re here to help. One of our favorite shoes for this season is the Cocobelle “Bahia” and while it may look a little scary, fashionistas – take note!
The reason we love it so much is because it instantly adds interest to any outfit. This shoe would add major edge to your basic floral sun dress. It can also be paired with shorts and a tee shirts and maybe a little jewelry. Make sure your legs are bare though and be sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple and streamlined because a shoe like this needs to shine on its own!
All About the Oxford
March 11, 2010
Here at Shoegasm we fancy ourselves celebs so when we saw everyone from Taylor Swift to Sienna Miller to Mary-Kate Olsen rockin’ the oxford shoes we just knew we had to get our hands on a pair. The great thing about oxfords is that they come in so many different styles and colors and they look great with just about anything. Pair them with jeans and a tee for a really relaxed look or get spring ready and wear them with a fun skirt and maybe some knee highs!
Here’s some looks we love:

Chelsea Crew “HOLLY”

Good Choice “Rinna”

Chelsea Crew “Holland”
Wedge Time!
March 11, 2010
If you’re anything like us you love the look of going out and wearing heels but hate the pain in your feet by the end of the night. Well we’ve got a solution for you. (No, not flats!) This season it’s all about the wedge shoe. They give you the same edgy look and height as heels minus the agony so you’ll be able to dance the night away, pain free. No matter what your personal style is there’s a wedge for you out there.
Unleash your inner rocker chick and try these Jefferey Cambell “Tick” wedge booties.

Pair these with skinny jeans, a band tee and some layered necklaces to get that really downtown look.
For a more feminine vibe try these Chelsea Crew “T-UP”s in Tan

Personally, we’ve always been a huge fan of t-straps and the tan color will make your legs look longer than ever! Pair them with a flirty floral dress and a statement head piece like this one
for a really fun, flirty look!

Fashion Will Change The World
March 2, 2010
In light of the event we hosted last weekend to collect shoes for donation and celebrate Haitian culture, we thought we should follow up by suggesting ways you can sustain your own participation in the relief effort. We found one simple way you can help out and make a fashion statement at the same time.
As everyone knows, cause related marketing is SO in right now. From the old “Free Tibet” t-shirts to Whole Food’s recycled grocery bags, philanthropy is the new bandwagon and everyone is in on it.
The most recent trend to emerge is style for Haiti. Check out these t-shirts we found from the CFDA:
Available for purchase online at http://www.cfda.com/fashion-for-haiti/ these shirts are a great way to show your support and encourage others to get involved. So when you shop, flex your purchasing power muscles and support style with substance. Don’t forget, our shoe drive is going on through March 30, 2010 at all Shoegasm locations. Come donate an old pair of kicks and check out our selection of new ones!
Soak Up the Wintery Weather
February 26, 2010
Even though fluffy white flakes may be falling from the sky, the fact that the sidewalks have become slushy brown rivers doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be thinking about springtime fashion. Soon enough, you will replace those fuzzy lined rubber boots with open-toed flats, releasing your feet from their cold, dark prison. With this in mind, we are looking ahead to sunnier days at Shoegasm with our spring/summer styles. We like the Good Choice “Jerny” in a rainbow of colors
…So cute paired with rolled shorts and a flowy top.
Just remember, when warmer weather finally comes around, you’ll look back on these chilly winter days fondly because they really help to make the good times even better.
Jeffery Campbell goes BOLD
February 25, 2010
Febuary 25, 2010 Jeffrey Campbell has been around for nearly 10 years, designing shoes inspired by urban nomadism, street culture, the power of music, runway direction and vintage styles. He explores a world that exists while most of us are sleeping… urban youth gatherings, dark corners, high trend nightspots with pulsing music. True grit bore his most recent collection and the result is a line that belongs in the night.
This spring, tap into your inner reble with the Pixie Wedges:

We love them and apparently Time Out New York does too! Check out the feature on page 28 of this week’s issue (Feruary 25 – March 3, 2010)
Midwinter Pick-me-up
February 23, 2010
February 23, 2010
So around this time of year, we find ourselves searching for something new and exciting to get us through days that seem to linger while the sun continues to set early. Sapped of inspiration, we often seek guidance from others who claim to hold some key that we do not possess. This can lead many of us to a strange and unfamiliar place, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.
As it pertains to fashion, I once found myself in such a quandary where I emerged comfortable sporting a wonderful assortment of scarves (…obviously for better). Yet another time I found myself and others staring eerily at the pair of untied, fluorescent reissue hi-tops that had made their way onto mes pieds at a black tie event. Thankfully I quickly learned that daring does not necessarily mean shocking.
It is during these times that one recognizes how to take the pieces of advice that work for them and leave the rest. What I keep coming back to, however, after each of these seemingly lack luster periods is that good style comes starts and ends in what one is comfortable wearing.
This being said, I have a few recommendations for shoes this season that are both “stylish” and comfortable.
I guess we can assume that because everyone and their mom is making a Men’s mock boot they are in? And thank god because they are SUPER comfy.
For casual, try the Keds “Chukka”

For a slightly more “dressy” casual try Clark’s classic “Desert Boot”

If you’re into the indie-hipster thing, try the J. Press “Terrain” for a slight throwback feel

Whatever your style, remember it’s yours and you have to love it.
Fashion Week Wrap-Up… Or a Lack Thereof
February 22, 2010
While we all love to observe les models as they make their way down the catwalk, one of our favorite parts of Fashion Week is watching how the audience members take what they are given and make it their own. While a substantial number of designers found inspiration in turn-of-the-century styles for Fashion Week Fall 2009 (likely the result of a sweeping social harkening for a return to a more honest and authentic time… one fallout from the recession), many fashionistas reacted in 2010 by flaunting their legs in protest… and the longer the better.
Whether strapped into thigh-highs or slipped into sexy heels, legs were on display during the week+ celebration of hauté-couture. While the wintery weather forced creativity with stockings, boots and leggings, some braved the cold sporting a “nude” leg and we approve.
No, we aren’t pushing everyone to risk illness in an attempt to bare winter’s worst for fashion’s best, but in light of the conditions this week the trend made a dramatic statement.
Perhaps the craze is well oriented, as the wise have said the legs are “last to go,” but we think its ok to wait on this one until the flowers start blooming… but that’s up to you.
Our suggestion to accentuate your stems is to try a pump with a bit of texture and flair or a bright color:
