We’re Thankful for Family, Friends and good Fashion Advice!

Since Thanksgiving is upon us, it’s time to think up some outfit combinations for dinner with your family and friends. Of course, everyone loves putting together holiday outfits—’tis the season—but dressing for Thanksgiving dinner is a bit different. Unless you’re  Blair Waldorf, you’re not going to wear fun and glitzy party dresses and high, high heels. Thanksgiving is about family, friends, and delicious food. Sure, you want to look nice for the group picture, but maybe after dinner you’re going to play with your kid cousin or help clean up the dishes, and no one wants to be doing that in satin. And I mean, it’s good to want to make a splash at a fun holiday party, but at Thanksgiving dinner, you don’t need to have to make a scene in front of your family and closest friends—although you can make an impression. While the holiday party season of December and January call for extreme glamour, Thanksgiving is a homebody holiday and November is still fall, and you know what that means: cardigans, tights, and muted fall colors of gray, red, burnt orange and brown. This outfit has a look that’s chic and stylish, but also turkey-and-gravy appopriate.

Chelsea Crew Saffron

The Chelsea Crew “Saffron” Mary Janes ($59.99) in purple are a great fall shoe to crush leaves with, and with a low 1 1/2 inch heel they’re comfortable and classy. Purple may be a little daring ina show, but purple is definitely in this fall. They add the perfect pop of color to this mostly-black outfit!

Hawks Funnel Neck Dress

This Hawks Funnel neck dress from Urban Outfitters ($88) is adorable without being too much so: the funnel neck, a twist on the usual scoop neck, is grown up enough to show some serious style. And of course, while it’s still fall, we’re going to be pushing the plaid as much as possible: this black and white design is chic without being too blinding like other colored plaids out there.

Sure, it’s some more black, but this Ruffle Cardigan from Banana Republic ($79.50) adds the right bit of feminine flair to your outfit. And, in merino wool, it’s warm and fuzzy enough to keep you warm and toasty.

Vintage Necklace

If you want to add some bling, keep it simple: go with something vintage or vintage -looking, in shades of gold or brass. For instance, I found this gorgeous vintage 1940′s goldtone Monet choker necklace ($24) on Etsy, which adds the perfect amount of bling to your Thanksgiving outfit.
